America the Beautiful
As we celebrate our country this July, we pause to reflect on all of the truly fabulous experiences and locations we can explore in our own backyard. From iconic locations, to natural wonders across the country, the classic destinations that make America great are many. In honor of Independence Day we suggest some of what we feel are the must-see places that really exemplify what America is all about.
French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana: New Orleans’ French Quarter has a vibrancy that is made up of a rich tapestry of cultures and influences. The city’s rich history and musical heritage are inextricably linked, as you hear jazz, blues and classic rock reverberating around the French Quarter. A feeling of jubilance is palatable in the French Quarter, making it an American icon you must experience.
Times Square, New York, New York: Between the kaleidoscopic signs and the plethora of people-watching this hub of humanity seems to never sleep. A destination that has earned itself a celebrity status, this is an American icon that truly must be seen to be believed. Despite all of the hustle and bustle, there are places to relax and the traffic lanes on Broadway have been turned into pedestrian-only areas, allowing you a place to go at your own pace and take it all in.
Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts: Baseball is as American as apple pie, so it is fitting that the oldest ball park in America makes our list of must-see places. Throughout history, baseball greats like Babe Ruth and Ted Williams have stepped up to the plate in this emblematic location. Fenway has been maintained and preserved to continue to exude its golden-age glory for baseball fans from around the country. A Mecca for baseball lovers, the Green Monster and Fenway Park are not to be missed.
Millennium Park, Chicago, Illinois: For a taste of a truly American city, Chicago’s Millennium Park is an urban oasis that has been drawing visitors from all over the country. Full of sculptures and artwork, one of the must-see attractions in the park is Cloud Gate, or “The Bean” as it is affectionately known. This captivating structure is gleaming, polished steel, which creates fun optical illusions which demand creative photo ops from its visitors gazing up into it. With its manicured gardens, stunning art pieces and acres to get lost in, Millennium Park is a superb American destination everyone must experience at least once in their lifetime.
