Recently Unique Travel was awarded the Crystal Chairman’s Award for top sales producers. To celebrate our achievements as the top luxury travel agency in sales, our very own Kim Schneider attended the gala event which was held on the Crystal Mozart Riverboat. The event took place over five nights and started in Vienna, traveled to Budapest and Bratislava before returning back to Vienna. Crystal’s MO is luxury, and Crystal did not disappoint.
This month, we share our experience and focus on what our advisor, Kim, believed were the must-have experiences of this trip. From the culture to the luxurious food and drink to the heritage tours, we break down just why if you don’t already have a tour like this on your radar, you need to.
Vienna: Our stay began at the Viennese institution Hotel Sacher. Opened in 1876 by the son of the creator of the Sacher-torte, Hotel Sacher is renowned as the place to stay for nobility, high-society, politicians and artists. Everything about this hotel is 5-star quality; from the 149 luxury rooms and suites to the iconic dessert, the Sacher-Torte. A sweet treat that is still made by hand (through a 36 step process!) its recipe is a closely guarded secret. We think Kim’s description of the world-renowned dessert is perfect- “it’s chocolate decadence on steroids!”
In addition to the stunning features and eats of Hotel Sacher, guests must visit Schönbrunn Palace. Initially commissioned as a hunting lodge in the 17th Century, gradually over the course of the 18th Century, Schönbrunn grew to be a palatial imperial palace which visitors are now enjoying today. While there, treat yourself to a live orchestra performance followed up by a glass of the most amazing champagne. Crystal Cruises offers luxury to the hilt- and this vibrant, culture rich city is to be experienced in the most magnificent way.
Budapest: The next leg of the cruise saw guests participating in a Jewish Heritage Tour in the historical city of Budapest. Visits to synagogues and museums, castles and parliamentary buildings brought the history to life. Aside from the cultural and historical richness of Budapest, the city also offers a great nightlife, a young, energetic population and a plethora of restaurants to experience. Gorgeously lit up at night, guests were able to view the city from the riverboat as it circumnavigated the riverbank of the city in the evening, allowing for another awe-inspiring view of Budapest. With great shopping, eating and history all in one location- this is a place not to be missed.
Bratislava: A charming, historical city, Bratislava is cute little town that is perfect for walking tours, has a superb food experience, and incredible architecture spanning centuries in the historical Old Town. Known for its lively cafes and bars, guests can experience the local specialties; and foodies are sure to find something unique and delicious to try. Whether it’s a quick bite sampling local sausages and homemade pretzels, or a more elaborate lunch complete with exceptional wine from one of the renowned local vineyards, you will find it here. While seeing the city, guests can experience performers in period dress, view the surrounding Little Carpathian Mountains and enjoy this truly delightful city set along the Danube River.
This was a sensational experience that combined history, food and culture in the most exquisite way and needs to be lived to truly be appreciated!
