I just loved my Uniworld River Cruise on the River Duchess, sailing form Vienna to Amsterdam.  Each day we visited an adorable little village as we sailed along the Danube and Rhine rivers.  We travelled through over 60 locks and cruised past what seemed like hundreds of castles.  There is something magical about sailing through this  storybook land, while reminiscing about kings and queens and romances of the past.  Each day brought a different adventure and a new experience.  From strolling narrow, cobblestone streets, passing old world buildings and storefront pastry shops to authentic German restaurants and fascinating museums and cathedrals,  our guides were experts and managed to bring each destination to life.

Each of Uniworld’s river boats is a little floating boutique hotel, each personally decorated by Beatrice Tollman of Red Carnation Hotel fame. I love that each river boat has its own character and charm. Our  accommodations were intimate, cozy and functional. The beds were super comfortable and the cabin service was impeccable, resupplying our bathrooms daily with super soft fluffy towels and L’Occitane products.

The food was delicious, with plenty of variety and always cooked to order.  I met with the chef every day to go over the menu because I have a lot of dietary restrictions which were never a problem.
